Pax Christi USA Local Groups:
Pax
Christi Local Groups consist of three or more persons registered
as Pax Christi USA members with the National Office who come together
to pray, study, and act for peace with justice. Local groups hold
regular meetings and welcome new Pax Christi USA members into the
group. Local groups are a vital part of Pax Christi USA's identity
as a grassroots movement. They often initiate projects making links
between global and local injustice and are instrumental in implementing
Pax Christi USA projects at the local level.
Some of the
benefits enjoyed by a local group include: four issues per year
of The Organizer, Pax Christi USA's prayer-study-action
resource ; discounts on Pax Christi USA sale items; access to grants
(up to $300 annually) for special projects and outreach efforts
through Pax Christi USA's Development Fund; access to computer printouts
and/or mailing labels of Pax Christi USA members within their locale;
access to national staff personnel for consultation and as speakers;
the opportunity to participate in Pax Christi USA's email Rapid
Response Network; publication of local group events on Pax Christi
USA's web page and in PCUSA's newspaper, the Catholic Peace Voice,
plus much more!
There are over
250 Pax Christi local groups within the United States. To locate
a Pax Christi USA local group in your area or to inquire about forming
a community-based, parish-based, or campus-based (college or high
school) Pax Christi group, please contact:

Pax
Christi USA Regions:
A Pax Christi USA Region consists of six or more Pax Christi USA
registered local groups or 200 registered Pax Christi USA members
in a specific geographic area. Regions organize at least one regional
event per year and communicate on a regular basis with the Pax Christi
USA local groups and individual members within the region via a
regional newsletter, regular mailings and/or email communiqués.
They are a vital part of Pax Christi USA's identity as a grassroots'
movement. Regions develop prayer, action and educational opportunities
within the region, mobilize support for Pax Christi USA initiatives,
and provide community support for members. Regional status requires
the selection of a regional leadership team through a process involving
all Pax Christi USA members within the region; this team is expected
to be representative of the region's local groups and to meet regularly
(generally 2-4 times/year) to pray, vision and strategize.
In addition
to the benefits experienced by local groups, Pax Christi USA Regions
are invited to provide input into the development of PCUSA's annual
Work Plan as well as other national level programs/projects. Pax
Christi USA assists in supporting regional work through an annual
PCUSA Regional Membership Grant and also fully subsidizes an annual
Regional Leadership Meeting focused on prayer, planning, and
relationship-building
among the regional leaders and with the National Council and National
Staff.
There are 19
Pax Christi USA regions within the United States: Bay Area - California,
Florida, Illinois, Long Island, Maine, Massachusetts, Metro DC,
Metro New York, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Orleans, Eastern
OH-Western PA, Pacific Northwest, Southern California, Texas, New Mexico,
Upstate New York and Virginia. For information please contact:
