Why Join?
In a world that settles differences by armed violence or the threat of it, Pax Christi offers a nonviolent alternative. In a world that too often defines "justice" as "revenge," Pax Christi breaks the cycle of violence by fostering reconciliation. In a world where countries invest more money in weapons than in the well-being of their people, Pax Christi calls individuals to disarm their hearts and work toward a world free of nuclear and conventional weapons.

Friends:

What is the Pax Christi USA Friends Program?
This program seeks to provide friends of Pax Christi with an opportunity to support and share in the work of the national Catholic peace movement, as well as the opportunity to publicly endorse the work of Pax Christi, while contributing to the organization's growth and success.

The Friends Program seeks to build a community of peacemakers by linking people who share similar hopes and visions and who are committed to implementing the message of peace proclaimed by Jesus. Friends of Pax Christi USA receive all membership mailings, including our quarterly newspaper the Catholic Peace Voice. Friends will also receive our Lent and Advent Journals free of charge. Because the cost of these two publications is $5 and considered minimal by the IRS, all donors may receive them and still consider their entire contribution as tax deductible.

The Pax Christi USA Friends program welcomes…
…Memberships on behalf of a special person, living or deceased. What better way to honor a person than to enroll them as a friend of peace?

…Gifts of cash, securities, real estate, gifts-in-kind, bequests, and pledges of financial support made over the course of the year.

Individuals, couples, and families are welcome to contribute to one of the following categories:

Parish Sponsor
Now more than ever, we need to stand upright, with truth in our belt, with justice for our shield, and for shoes, the zeal to propagate the Gospel of Peace. (Ephesians, 6:14-15)

Why become a Parish Sponsor?
For years parishes in the United States have labored tirelessly to promote peace and justice in the Church and society. Despite tremendous sacrifice, this work is far from complete. That's why Pax Christi wants to team up with parishes. It's our hope that through our materials and support, we can help you instill the gospel message of peacemaking and justice seeking within your parish community. By working together in partnership, our shared dreams of a peaceful future can become a reality.

We at Pax Christi share the conviction of the U.S. bishops that the formation of Catholics is incomplete unless they are learning the social implications of their faith. We want to team up with parishes like yours so that the developing conscience and value system of Catholics will include sensitivity to economic and social justice, nonviolence and peace.

By joining, your parish will receive:

· Valuable resources such as our Advent and Lenten reflection journals sent to you free of charge. This allows you to educate your community by purchasing our materials at discount prices.

· Advice and assistance when your parish is planning an event or retreat dealing with peace and justice.

· Press releases, action alerts, and membership mailings that keep your parish abreast of the current peace and justice issues around the world.

· Concrete ideas for your parish staff in the form of the Organizer, published four times a year. This valuable little publication includes concrete education and action ideas, clip art and quotes, programs, calendar events and the resources from which appropriate parish initiatives can be adapted.

· Free issues of the Catholic Peace Voice, our quarterly newspaper. Copies of each issue will be sent to your parish free of charge so that you can make them readily available in your Church to educate your community on various issues facing society.

Membership in the Parish Sponsor Program means an annual gift of $150 or more if you are able. Join/Renew

Bishops

Like a cathedral, peace must be constructed patiently and with unshakable faith.
-- Pope John Paul II

The U.S. bishops' pastoral letter Confronting a Culture of Violence states, "Person by person, family by family, neighborhood by neighborhood, we must take our communities back from the evil and fear that come with so much violence." Pax Christi USA is putting this teaching into practice, step by nonviolent step. There are already 140 Bishops, and 14,000 other members, who count on Pax Christi to keep them informed of important issues and opportunities for action. Join them by becoming a Bishop member.

In return you will receive:

· Free copies of our quarterly newspaper the Catholic Peace Voice;
· Free copies of our Advent and Lent reflection journals which are ideal for personal reflection, community sharing or gifts for friends;
· Press releases, action alerts and membership mailings that will keep your community abreast of current peace and justice issues;
· Advice and assistance when you are planning an event or retreat that deals with peace and justice issues.
